Team Roles
Typically, there are four (4) roles on every hackathon team. Whether your team has 2, 3, or 4 people on it, the roles still have to be filled:
The Visionary: responsible for managing the team, making sure the team hits all deadlines and deliverables, coming up with the vision, etc. 99% of the time, they will be making the final presentation.
The Technologist: Leads on the technical parts of the product as well as the look and feel of the product
The Marketer: Leads the Go to Market Strategy, Identifying Target Users and Ideal Market audience
The Designer: Leads on the product name, logo, landing page creation, user acquisition strategy, etc.
Tips
Get to know other students in the program – other students, mentors, judges, etc. all around you – there’s going to be an awesome network of people attending, and whether they become your partner or future BFFs, you never know where a cool conversation could lead!
Prepare and polish – Everyone is eager to crank out awesome ideas in the limited time we have, but take time to “sharpen your axe” and prepare a killer presentation. Your project is important, but so are a sound strategy and compelling demo.
